GUIDELINES TO USE COMMON MEDICINAL HERBS

In this article, we will guide you about common medicinal herbs with their traditional and scientific uses.

1.  ALFALFA

2.  Chaste tree

Chaste tree is a bush that bears berries and violet flowers, also known as vitex agnus-castus. The dried fruit and leaves are used in medicines. This plant native to western Asia and the Mediterranean. Now, it can be found in southeastern parts of North America.

  • Traditional Use: Chaste tree contains flavonoids, Iridoids, Progestins, and essential oils. This combination helps to control menstrual cycles and ease menstrual pain.

Serenoa Repens is a type of palm also known as saw palmetto. It is native to the southeastern United States. Saw palmetto is a tree and its ready natural product is utilized to make the drug. The berries of the plant are commonly used in supplements to improve balance hormone levels, prostate health as well as prevent hair loss in men.

5.  Ginger

Currently, it is grown in parts of South American and Africa. In the Middle East, It is grown to use as medicine and with food.

6.  Garlic

A famous physician named Hippocrates who is also recognized as the father of western medicines said:

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

He also uses garlic to treat various deceases. Now a days, modern science also confirms that garlic has benefits for health. It is native to Siberia, but now you can find it almost all over the world. In foods and beverages, garlic powder, fresh garlic, and garlic oil are used to add aroma or flavor.

Research conducted in China found that men who use to eat at least one clove of garlic have 50% less risk of developing prostate cancer.
